Response to intervention (rti)

RtI is another component of MTSS that we use at Renner Elementary School.  It is a part of the Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) which helps staff identify and support students with learning (academic) needs in all subject areas.

This process begin with high quality instruction in the classroom, given by the classroom teacher & universal screening (diagnostic assessment) given to all students.  The data is then used to determine next steps in instruction for all students Kindergarten - Fifth grade. Our students that may require interventions are provided with specific learning assistance to help accelerate their rate of learning.

Progress is closely monitored to assess both the learning rate and level of performance of individual students. Educational decisions about the intensity and duration of interventions are based on individual student response to instruction. RtI is designed for use when making decisions in both general education and special education, creating a well-integrated system of instruction and intervention guided by child outcome data.
